SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Kingdom Living

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

Jesus talks quite a bit about the kingdom and uses the words “of God” and “of heaven” interchangeably. So what does it mean to seek the kingdom of God? It means to seek God’s way of doing things and thus, the benefits of being a citizen of the kingdom of heaven.

There are two kingdoms or systems at work on the earth. There is the kingdom of the prince of the air (Ephesians 2:2, 6:12) or the earthly kingdom, where Satan reigns. He was given power to rule the earthly system by Adam, when Adam sinned in the garden. Prior to that time, only God’s ways were operating on the earth by Adam and Eve. (Genesis 1:28)

When Adam sinned, this act of high treason allowed Satan’s evil works of death and destruction, to be operational, on the earth.

A person who is a not yet born again only knows one kingdom and that is of Satan. However, Jesus paid the price of sin and bought back our ability to be part of the kingdom of heaven, and have dominion, again. It is His grace that allows us to have access to the kingdom of God.

When we become a believer, we are to make Jesus Lord or ruler of our lives. We willingly become subjects to Jesus and His glorious kingdom with all the blessing and provisions of that kingdom. Grace has made this available to us, by faith. We must choose.

There are many believers who are now children of the God, but have no idea that there is a new way to live, a new kingdom to dwell in and continue to live in the squalor of the world system. Ignorance is not bliss, my friends.

Jesus instructed his followers to not worry about the things they would eat and drink or basic needs, at all, because that is what the Gentiles (those not of the believers) worry about. He says to instead “seek first the kingdom of God and all these thing will be added unto you.” Meaning,  if you do things by the kingdom of God system, you will have all your needs taken care of.

So how do we seek the kingdom of God? We seek or inquire what God says about how we should act or choose something.  Then we choose to do things His way verses what our natural self, the way of the world does it.  That ultimately will demand living by faith because when your checking account is at zero dollars, it doesn’t look like it will happen, in the natural. It probably won’t happen, in the natural.

Those who live by the natural, or the flesh, almost always add more grief and stress to their lives because they are following  the demonic system that Satan rules and his goal is to steal, kill and destroy. His system provides nothing but worry, fear and death. Yet, Jesus promised that you will be taken care of.

The Gospels are full of situations where the natural world bent to the glorious and supernatural kingdom of heaven. The disciples themselves never had to concern themselves with care as long as they were with Jesus. You are with Jesus and He is with you. In fact He is in you! You can live in that same supernatural because that is what the kingdom of heaven is!

As believers, we must choose every day to bow to the kingdom of Heaven. That is an easy thing to do for Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:33 NLT

Always know, God does not show favoritism. (Acts 10:34-35, 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4, Romans 2:9-11 James 2:9-11)  So if He promises it, or did it for one,   you have access to it. This is not dependent on you, but on Jesus. It is His grace that gives us the kingdom of heaven. Your part is to believe it and have faith for it.

Hold tight to what you are believing in and perservere in your faith. Don’t be asking for signs and if they don’t happen right off, thinking God is failing you. Jesus was very strong in his statement about asking for a sign. Matthew 16:4 That is not faith.

Keep the word of God in you. Know what God says about the kingdom of heaven and how to live it. It is impossible to navigate life without His compass and map. Know what your heavenly benefits are and believe in them; have faith in what God has said about Him, you and your life on earth.
