Christian Living

The biggest enemy of your future may be your past. That doesn’t mean your past has any real power, but can destroy the life you were meant to live, if you keep it alive.

Everything God has for you is in the future and the future begins now!

It is easy to focus on the past because, well you lived it. You may even have some fall out from the decisions of your past, that bring up the ugliness of those decisions.

The devil will tell you that what you have done was too grieveous to be of any hope for a future. He is a liar.

If it be any comfort, the man who wrote the majority of the New Testament, Paul, was responisble for the torture and imprisonment, even murder of Christians. (Acts 9:1)  In fact he was there when Stephen was stoned, aiding the horrific murder. ( Acts 7:58-59) He had such a horrible reputation, when God sent him to preach, the people were afraid of him!

Even so, God used him for His glory.

But the Lord said to him, “Go for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and children of Israel.” ( Acts 9:15 )

Paul would not have been much use to the Lord if he had stayed focused on his past. Instead he chose to focus on his future, the one God chose for him. “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:13-14)

The only thing between you and your future may be your past and the only one who can keep it alive is you. God has forgiven and forgotten your sins. He has blotted them out with the precious blood of Jesus. Isn’t it time you let them go, too?
